The security sector requires versatile and practical designs to meet the diverse needs of its applications. Modeinstitut Berlin has created the Twin Jacket to embody competence, functionality, and presence in corporate fashion for security services. This design focuses on the individuality of the profession, the company, and the industry, rather than personal individuality.
What sets the Twin Jacket apart is its ability to combine two independent jackets with a range of recognizable functions. The blouson jacket with a lapel collar serves as a representative outer layer, providing warmth as an inner jacket. The breathable parka, on the other hand, offers protection against wind and rain. Convenient side zippers in the parka allow easy access to the blouson jacket and any work-related equipment worn on the body.
The Twin Jacket is made with high-quality materials that meet the demands of corporate fashion, including a stylish cut and durable fabrics certified according to Öko-Tex Standard 100. It features functional details such as a lapel collar, mobile pocket, shoulder epaulettes, side zippers, and a detachable pocket for an identification badge. Multiple functional pockets inside the jackets and a wrapped hood inside the parka's collar ensure maximum wearer comfort and temperature stability.
The Twin Jacket project began in 2011 in Berlin and was exhibited at the red dot design museum in Essen, Germany. The design team, consisting of Nadine Thomas, Anna Oesterheld, Franka Eigl, and Alf Maron, incorporated various inspirations, including architecture, lines and surfaces, materials, open spaces, and human behavior, to create a design that balances functionality and aesthetics.
The Twin Jacket received the Silver A' Design Award in the Safety Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment Design category in 2013. This prestigious accolade recognizes the design's outstanding expertise, innovation, technical characteristics, and artistic skill. The Twin Jacket not only meets the demands of the security service industry but also showcases a remarkable level of excellence, leaving a lasting impression on its wearers and admirers.
